The Many Intensities Of Power Washers And Which One You Need

by Gary March 5, 2022
written by Gary

If you thought a power washer is only used to clean out driveways, you are going to be pretty surprised by all the users and intensities there are out in the market. Power washers have taken the cleaning market by storm because of how easily make everything for you. Here are a few different types of intensities of a power washer and what you need to be looking for in each intensity.

The Three Different Intensities Of a Power Washer

There are three basic intensities of a power washer based on a few different elements but mostly on the throw of the water and the energy that they use. You can also decide what intensity you want to be using because it will directly depend on the kind of setting that you are using it in. The light usage will most definitely be in a home setting the single car and so on.

The Light Usage

The light power washer uses the least amount of energy that is required out of all the three types. It is better to use this kind of power washer when you are in a home setup with only a single car to look after and a small driveway if you are planning to clean one. It may not be able to deep clean other things like large pieces of furniture and rugs and carpets because its intensity will not be that high.

The Medium Usage

The medium intensity of a power washer is best to use when you have more than one card and a larger area to clean. If you have a big house with bigger tires and a large driveway, it is a good idea to get the medium intensity power washer because it will make your life easier and take much less time in comparison to a small power washer.

The Heavy Usage

The heavy-duty power washer can be used in an industrial setting. If you are in a workshop or a car wash of some sort where you require some high energy cleaning, you are more likely to use the heavy usage power washer.

What You Need To Be Looking At?

There are a few things that you need to be looking at whenever you go out to select one or the other intensity of power washer:

1. Gallon Per Minute GPM

First off you need to know how many gallons per minute are used by the machine. The higher  the gallons, the higher the intensity.

2. Portability

Portability is everything when it comes to buying a pressure washer because if you are not able to carry your voice along everywhere it becomes almost useless because you’re stuck in one spot.

3. Adjustable Wand

An adjustable wand must be checked in order to make the process of pressure cleaning and washing easy for you.

4. Operational Ease

The ease of operation is one of the most important things that you need to look out for when you are buying a power washer because ultimately will make your life much easier if you know how to control the machine.

Factors That Guide You When Purchasing Your Honor Smartwatch

by Gary February 22, 2022
written by Gary

Smartwatches have emerged as one of the most widely purchased wearable devices globally. The reason is not only because it adds style to our fashion and tells the time, but also because it can perform so many other functions like making and receiving calls, fitness & health training, listening to music, checking the weather forecasts, notifications of emails, etc. However, with the high numbers of smartwatches produced worldwide, there is a need to be very careful when purchasing your smartwatch to avoid any regret in the future. That’s why honor smartwatches are the safest to buy. However, it is best to consider some important factors to guide you before purchasing your own honor smartwatch. In this article, we will be discussing these factors and why they are worth considering when buying your honor smartwatch.

Factors for purchasing Honor smartwatches

  • Compatibility: One of the first things to consider when buying a smartwatch is whether the smartwatch will sync with your smartphone. Some smartwatches only sync with iOS, while some sync with Android. In this case, you are safe as most honor smartwatches sync with both Androids and ios. This way, you get to continue using your watch if you decide to change your smartphone to another operating system.

You should go for an honor smartwatch that would be able to last you half a day at least (12 -14 hours) before powering down. Some honor smartwatches last for over 20days per charge.
  • Smartwatch Band: You should try on the smartwatch before buying to see whether the watch’s band is too tight to wear or it’s the perfect fit before regularly wearing your honor smartwatch.
  • Fitness Features: The features inside your honor smartwatch are another factor to look into. Although there are so many amazing features in different honor smartwatches, it is up to you to select the smartwatch with your desired feature based on what you will be doing with it. However, if you are not sure of the features you want, you can go for smartwatches with built-in GPS and many sensors for tracking and monitoring activities. For example, if you are an athlete, you could check if the Band 5i sale is on.
  • App Selecting Preference: Honor smartwatches can run hundreds of apps they support. So, while buying your watch, you should only consider the watches that can support all the apps to enjoy your smartwatch to the maximum.
  • Display: The display is an essential factor to consider when purchasing your smartphone. There are different types of displays you can consider, based on how much money you have to spare. The best displays are OLED & AMOLED; the LCD is also not as good as OLED or AMOLED.
  • NFC Feature: The NFC (Near field communications) allows you to make payments without using your phone or credit wallet. All you have to do is hold up your wrists to pay for whatever you bought. This is a very interesting feature, and it should be considered when buying your smartwatch.

Conclusion

Smartwatches are one of the best inventions you can hope to see throughout your lifetime. However, you also have to note that there are various types of smartwatches in the market today, and it is important to identify the type of smartwatch that is perfect for you. To achieve this, all you have to do is cross-check the smartwatch you wish to buy with the factors listed in this article.

written by Gary

CNC machining is a complex subtractive manufacturing process. It requires high levels of experience and expertise to accomplish. Companies like 3ERP are known for their domination in machining parts. There are several other CNC machining companies in the market. This blog discusses the top CNC machining applications.

Common CNC machining applications

CNC machining is applied in a wide range of industries. Below are some of the top CNC machining applications;

1. Aerospace

The aerospace industry is one of the primary areas where CNC machining is applied. The industry has an extensive shared history with the CNC machining market. Aircraft parts require the highest levels of precision. Precision promotes security. No other manufacturing technique provides higher levels of precision than CNC manufacturing.

The manufacturing technique also allows the application of various types of metals. This allows aerospace engineers to pick materials based on the product and its compatibility with engineering requirements. It is also worth mentioning that CNC machining applications in the aerospace industry are limitless. The technique is used for making engine components, landing gear, panels, and various other components.

2. Automotive

Like the aerospace industry, the automotive industry also applies CNC machining for parts production. Various metals are used to manufacture various components in the automotive industry. Google Messages may soon be able to ‘translate’ iMessage reactions to emojis

by Gary November 16, 2021
written by Gary

A new Google Messages update is on the way that will display reactions to messages from Apple’s iMessage as emojis in the chat, reports 9to5Google. This info comes from decompiling the APK of the latest version of the app, so keep in mind the feature may not end up being publicly launched.

Google Messages might display iMessage reactions as emojis

In case you’re on Android but your friend on iPhone insists on using reactions for text messages, worry not, as Google seems to be planning a way to make this interaction better for you. Right now, if an iMessage user reacts to your message (and you’re on Android), you will receive a lengthy message, describing their reaction such as “Liked an image” or “Emphasized “We’re on our way”.

However, in an iMessage group, these are simple message reactions. They become more complicated in a mixed conversation, and a fallback message such as this is sent to Android users, in order to ensure they won’t miss a reaction to their text. In a group chat, these lengthy messages might get annoying and unnecessarily clutter the chat history.

9to5Google has found in an APK teardown of the latest beta update to Google Messages, version 10.7, that Google is looking into replacing these long messages with emojis. This is not yet live in the app, but it suggests Google Messages should be able to intercept incoming iMessage reactions and then “translate” them into an emoji for Android users.

At the moment, it is not clear how exactly this will work, but it could use incoming messages that start with something like “Liked” and try to match it to a previously sent message. It could then hide the incoming iMessage fallback and display an emoji.

However, there’s something that is also necessary to point out. iMessage had a different set of reactions than those available in Google Messages and RCS chats. According to the discovered APK code, Google seems to be aware of this as there is a portion of the code dubbed “ios_reactions_mapping” and could refer to mapping the set of reactions available in Google Messages or mapping them to various emoji.

Google Messages may also be getting Birthday reminders

Another interesting thing the APK teardown revealed is that Google seems to be working on a handy birthday reminder. The Google Messages conversation list might be able to show you directly who has a birthday, of course, based on their Google Contacts listing. Additionally, if you’re in the middle of a chat with said person, you should also be getting a banner reminding you to wish them a happy birthday. The banner may also feature a fun birthday cake animation.

Google Messages: recent new features

Google has been working on improving the experience on Google Messages, and recently we’ve reported about a feature in development that is currently being tested. It seems Google may be working on using the notification dot (that is currently to show you which app has a notification that you haven’t seen) for messages that you haven’t yet opened in Google Messages.

App Store Optimization Tips for Fintech Designers

by Gary October 31, 2021
written by Gary

App store optimization is a lot like search engine optimization. And like SEO, app store designers have a role to play in APO. In this post, we’ll look at four things you can do to increase the visibility and discoverability of your fintech products in app store search results.

Similar to SEO, app store optimization (APO) allows us to increase the visibility and discoverability of a mobile app in search results. For new fintech apps, APO is especially important as it gives these apps a chance to contend with existing frontrunners in their space.

Of course, there are many factors that contribute to how well a fintech app ranks in the stores. Quality of experience. Overall value. Number of reviews and average rating. Keyword optimization.

Assuming you’ve built a great app that’s chock full of value, what else can you do as a designer/developer to help your fintech product rank better in the app stores than others?

Today, we’ll look at four things you can do to optimize your app listing for search, increase the chances of the app getting featured and, of course, get more installs.

1. Pay Attention to How the Content Is Formatted

There are a number of areas in your app store page where important details about the app will go and that you should pay attention to as a designer/developer:

  • Title & Subtitle (these are two different fields in the Apple App Store)
  • Description
  • What’s New

Look at the main metadata—the title and subtitle.

The title looks good. We see the app’s name (“SoFi”), along with a brief summary of what app users can do with it (“Investing, Money, Loans”).

The subtitle, however, doesn’t fit on the page, which is a problem. While users might be able to guess that the last word in the subtitle is “Crypto,” it doesn’t look good that there’s incomplete data there. Who knows if the app developer was trying to tell us something else. Right?

Whenever creating the main title and subtitle for your app store page, make sure that it:

  • Fits within the word count parameters for that app store
  • Includes the name of the app
  • Quickly and simply sums up the purpose of the app

You can follow Acorns’ lead when formatting your own title and subtitle:

Notice how nicely all of the information fits here.

The title “Acorns: Invest Spare Change” perfectly sums up what the users are going to get out of the app.

The subtitle “Investing. Earning. Growing.” doesn’t just provide extra context for the app—it also adds an eye-catching punch to the headline.

Also have a look at the “What’s New” section in the Acorns screenshot above.

Since you have to work within the formatting rules of the app store, there’s no using bold, italics, headers or any of the other formatting you’d use to make a web page more scannable or readable. So, you have to get creative with it as Acorn has done—spaces to break up paragraphs and dashes to call attention to sub-points.

SoFi also has a creative formatting solution:

Spaces are added in between paragraphs so the description can be long, but still easy to read. A triple-dash mark (—) helps SoFi draw attention to its app features. And the bullet points break down those benefits and features even further.

You can use these kinds of formatting to your advantage in both the What’s New and Description sections of the app page. The first major benefit of doing so is to create a more readable format for interested app users. APO is another potential benefit.

TikTok Has Spawned Its Own Ecosystem of Nearly 1,000 Apps Totaling 1.3 Billion Downloads

by Gary October 30, 2021
written by Gary

Embedded within the universe of the broader mobile app market are smaller galaxies revolving around popular social media platforms such as TikTok, whose star has recently reached a luminosity of more than 3 billion installs worldwide. Now, data from Sensor Tower’s intelligence platform reveals that the number of apps hoping to capitalize on TikTok’s popularity has reached more than 900 worldwide—with more than two-thirds of those having launched since January 2020.

A Big Bang in 2020

TikTok saw a meteoric rise in adoption last year, ending Q1 2020 with the most installs in a single quarter for any app ever. Unsurprisingly, as its popularity boomed, so did the number of apps launching into its orbit.

Approximately 400 apps hitching their wagon to TikTok debuted in 2020 on the App Store and Google Play worldwide, more than twice that of the nearly 200 apps launched in 2019. Although TikTok itself has remained at the top of the charts, the velocity of apps launching around it has slowed in 2021, reaching a level comparable to 2019 in the first 10 months of this year.

To date, TikTok—including Douyin on iOS in China—has reached approximately 3.3 billion installs globally. The more than 900 apps revolving around it have collectively reached nearly 40 percent of this across worldwide app stores.

Editors, Downloaders, and Empire-Builders

Nearly half of the apps mentioning TikTok are centered on enabling consumers to download videos to their devices, representing about 49 percent of all launches studied. This category’s growth was likely driven by TikTok users wanting to repost content to other social media platforms, as well as the desire to retain the content in case they lose access to the app. The second largest category of apps we studied offer analytics on followers and hashtags, as well as the supposed ability to increase follower count and engagement—this represents about 21 percent of apps operating in TikTok’s shadow.

Approximately 6 percent of the apps launched have been from competitors hoping to capture the attention of consumers by presenting themselves as similar alternatives. These included Josh, an Indian short video platform that launched shortly after TikTok was removed from app stores in that country.

Nebulous Opportunities Ahead

While new apps are still launching on the coattails of TikTok, the number of those that offer adjacent functionality has slowed so far in 2021. This shouldn’t be viewed as TikTok’s momentum waning—it certainly isn’t—but rather a sign of a ceiling being reached in this crowded subset of apps. Moving forward, more developers will likely opt to capitalize on the TikTok brand for marketing, rather than create apps meant to be used in conjunction with that platform.

There are also niche subcategories of apps sprouting up around TikTok that leverage it in various ways. These include aggregator apps, which compile videos from the platform on an ongoing basis, as well as simulators like Hype Me, which enables users to replicate the experience of running a popular TikTok channel, and Addison Rae Fake Call, through which users can have a simulated call with influencer Addison Rae. As TikTok’s social relevance continues to evolve, it’s likely that other esoteric apps such as these will debut in the future.

Time Spent in Rival Apps Grew Up to 23% During Facebook Platforms Outage

by Gary October 8, 2021
written by Gary

The outage that struck Facebook’s apps on October 4 led consumers to seek out alternatives for social media and messaging, precipitating a surge in time spent among apps from the company’s competitors. On the social media front, Snapchat saw the biggest increase as average time spent by existing users climbed 23 percent week-over-week during the outage, according to an analysis of preliminary Sensor Tower Usage Intelligence data.

Time Spent in Facebook’s Rival Apps Grew up to 23 Percent

Snapchat led social media platforms in growth, with time spent climbing 23 percent W/W. Other services saw a slight increase, with Twitter’s usage climbing 11 percent and TikTok experiencing a 2 percent bump.

Additionally, time spent in Signal grew 15 percent while Telegram saw time spent climb 18 percent W/W.

Unsurprisingly, the outage on Monday affected usage of Facebook’s apps as a large portion of users couldn’t access the services. Instagram’s average time spent on Android to fall 28 percent W/W. Usage of Facebook’s Android app fell by 24 percent, while WhatsApp usage declined by 25 percent and Messenger’s by 20 percent.

However, this isn’t necessarily an indication of a permanent shift in user behavior. Facebook’s apps have proven to be resilient in the past, with WhatsApp’s monthly active users remaining steady even despite the backlash earlier this year to its new privacy policy.

Snapchat Led Session Count Growth

An analysis of the same cohort of apps focusing on the number of sessions among existing, daily active Android users worldwide showed similar trends, with Snapchat experiencing the most W/W growth. When comparing October 4 to the week-ago day, the app saw a 14 percent increase in sessions. Twitter saw 5 percent growth W/W while TikTok saw a dip of 1 percent.

Messaging apps Telegram and Signal also saw an uptick in session count compared to September 27, climbing 13 percent and 9 percent, respectively.

Facebook’s apps saw a decline in session counts by existing users due to the outage, with WhatsApp falling by 15 percent W/W, Instagram by 14 percent, Facebook by 8 percent, and Messenger by 7 percent.

Messaging App Adoption Surges

As a result of WhatsApp’s outage, messaging alternatives such as Telegram and Signal saw a spike in adoption on October 4. According to preliminary Sensor Tower estimates, Signal’s installs grew nearly 12 times from 74,000 worldwide on October 3 to 881,000 on the following day.

Viber experienced 630 percent day-over-day growth from 137,000 installs to 1 million, while Telegram reached 6.3 million on October 4, up 530 percent from 1 million on the previous day.

Since January 2014, WhatsApp has accrued 6 billion global installs since January 2014, while Telegram has seen approximately 1 billion installs globally and Signal has reached 113 million.

5 Design Tips for Dropdown Menus on Websites and Apps

by Gary September 18, 2021
written by Gary

In this guide, we’ll look at five common dropdown issues and how you can fix them so your users’ experience with your product doesn’t get compromised.

Generally, I’d say there are two categories of dropdown features we use on websites and apps. Dropdown boxes for forms, action buttons, attribute options, country selectors and so on. And dropdown menus in the header.

This post is going to focus strictly on dropdown menu design.

UX Design Tips for Dropdown Menus

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s a motto I absolutely, positively hate. It insinuates that, so long as the job gets done, there’s no point improving it unless someone complains. Which is just bad business.

I often worry that navigation falls into this category. After all, it’s a universal element across websites and apps, and users depend on it to get around. Because of this, I’m sure most people just deal with whatever the experience is no matter how clunky it feels.

Knowing this, have we become complacent when designing navigations and, more specifically, dropdown menus?

While a cramped dropdown menu, for instance, might not completely ruin a user’s experience, those tiny bits of friction can add up. So, let’s look at some common ways in which dropdown menus aren’t making the cut and the simple UX fixes you can use to improve them.

1. Consider a Click Trigger Instead of Hover

Think about how many times you’ve been on a website or in a web app and the menu accidentally opened because you hovered your mouse too close to it. It’s annoying.

So, you really have to think about what kind of effect a hover-triggered dropdown menu will have on your users. With a session recording tool like Crazy Egg or Hotjar, you should be able to see if the menu is too sensitive or perhaps the menu’s size or placement is leading to an increase in accidental dropdowns.

If you notice this happening frequently enough, then the fix is simple: Turn the hover trigger into a click trigger.

You can see how nicely it works on the PayPal website:

As a bonus, a click-triggered menu is good for consistency.

For starters, whether a top-level link drops open to reveal additional links or it takes visitors directly to a page, the user has to click on it. So users don’t need to change their mode of engagement when using the navigation.

It’s also good for the omnichannel experience:

While it can’t be an identical experience since the top-level links are aligned vertically on mobile, the click experience is the same. So, users who interact with the site or app across devices don’t have to change the way they engage with it.

2. Use Dropdown Indicators

When your menu has mixed links—ones that drop open and ones that go directly to a page—it’s a good idea to let your visitors know which is which. Otherwise, they could end up spending time hovering over or clicking on each link to find out what their options are.

It’s wasted time and effort than can easily be avoided by including dropdown indicator icons the way the Toyota website does:

The red down-facing arrows in the navigation bar immediately let visitors know that the “Select Vehicle” and “Shopping Tools” links have more options hidden beneath them.

Also notice how Toyota uses various hover state changes like the red underline, the vehicle rotation animation and the icon grow animation. These UI changes make sure visitors never lose track of what they’re doing in the navigation.

These design choices should empower Toyota’s shoppers to more confidently and intentionally interact with the website.

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Add More Space

When it comes to hyperlinks, spacing isn’t really an issue since text links aren’t usually near competing links. So, when a user goes to click one, there’s no surprise or frustration if they go to a page or initiate an action they hadn’t intended on.

But when a dropdown menu is jam-packed full of links, that can easily happen.

Of course, you need to be cognizant of how much space you add around the links in a dropdown menu. You don’t want it to be so long that users have to scroll and scroll and scroll to see all of the links, especially on their smartphones.
